Fatal crashes in Tallahassee are down significantly over the past year.
In 2005, Tallahassee had a record number of deadly accidents, 29 of them. In 2006 that declined dramatically to 11 fatal crashes, but officers say they keep seeing the same mistakes again and again.
"One of the main things we continue to see in fatal crashes and crashes with serious injuries are the failure to wear seat belts and alcohol," said Tallahassee Police CAPT David Folsom.
"We're going to continue to combat alcohol through many programs and write tickets for not wearing seat belts," he said.
Police hope driver education programs, aimed at young drivers and motorcyclists, have made a difference.
