The tree capital of the south has done it again. Perry is named a tree city USA community for the 16th year.
The National Arbor Day Foundation is giving the honor because of Perry’s commitment to forestry.
Criteria for the national honor include having a tree board or department, a forestry program, a tree care ordinance, and an Arbor Day observance.
The city planted a tree at Jerkins Park in celebration.
