A caretaker faces nine years in prison after stealing from an elderly man.
Seventy-nine-year-old Pearl Westmoreland of Apalachicola was convicted of transferring more than $200,000 of an elderly man's assets into her accounts.
The state Attorney General's Office and Wakulla County sheriff's deputies say the victim once lived in a trailer park owned by Westmoreland and gave her authority to write his checks.
They say she lied about his assets to Medicaid and used his money for her own benefit.
Besides the prison sentence, she must also pay back $218,000 to the victim's estate.
