The governor has declared this Valentine’s Day as the first ever Florida Healthy Marriage Day.
And Florida’s Surgeon General, Ana Viamonte Ros, says a good marriage has benefits for the entire family.
"Adults receive many health benefits from their positive relationships, such as living longer and having better physical and psychological health,” she said. “And children benefit from seeing and feeling the effects of these positive relationships."
The feds will be spending $33 million in Florida over the next five years on programs designed to strengthen marriages and promote responsible fatherhood.
