MLK Day of Dialogue

As you walked inside of the city council chambers, you could see people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds talking open and honestly about their experiences with race.
It was called a "Day of Dialogue."

There, participants broke up into groups, which were facilitated by area college students. Participants talked about issues including racism, affirmative action, class discrimination, and life post- 9/11.

"I came from a predominately white school where I grew up and so I think having this opportunity is really helpful because people have come from backgrounds where, they were able to talk to other people about this," said Jennifer Toth, an FSU student.

This is actually the seventh year the city has held this special Day of Dialogue, and those who spoke with WCTV on and off camera say they left the dialogue as better people.

For those who missed out Monday's dialogue, there will be more study groups held around the end of February, and for anyone who would like to register for those you can call the city's Equity and Workforce Development Department at 891-8290.
