Equipment failure is being blamed for the death of an expert diver.
Ronald Wayne Simmons died yesterday while diving near Lafayette County's Blue Springs.
The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office says the 53-year-old was mapping the springs' cave that flows into the Suwannee River.
Authorities do not suspect foul play.
Simmons was from Charlottesville, Virginia. He is described as one of the best cave divers in the world.
