The Valdosta branch of the American Association of Women is hosting a two hour forum for the 2009 general municipal election.

Candidates for city council and other positions will introduce themselves and field questions from citizens.

Forum organizers see this as an opportunity for voters to become engaged in the political process.

"We want to give the community a chance to meet the candidates, to pose questions, have those questions answered and be able to differentiate between one candidate and another," said Martha Leake, the president of the Valdosta branch of the American Association of Women.

The free forum will kick off at 7 p.m. in VSU's Fine Arts building on the corner of Oak Street and Brookwood Drive.
