A packed house was on hand as four former Blazer athletes were formally inducted into the school's hall of fame. School leaders praised the stars not only for their athletic ability, but for their academic success as well.
VSU President Dr. Ronald Zaccari said, "I would like to congratulate Lance, Daryl, Bridgett and Byran. Thank you for bringing distinction for Valdosta State University."
For the newly crowned hall of fame inductees, it was an emotional time. Former VSU Tennis player Daryl Greenan stated, "I had a great experience here at VSU, and playing for Coach John, and I'd like to thank him for believing in me."
Dr. Bridgett Moore, a former VSU Basketball team member, said, "For athletes that are here, as far as grades go, its really important for the rest of your life, that's what I tell girls I mentor and the guys that come through my office, it makes a huge difference."
Athletic director, Herb Reinhard said these former athletes serve as a great example for all the athletes currently studying and playing at VSU, and the large crowd in attendance agreed. VSU President Ron Zaccari also pointed out that universities must never forget that education comes before athletics.
