Twelve area students are competing in the 2007 Big Bend Regional Spelling Bee.
The participants are elementary and middle school students who won their school district spelling bee.
Some students say they are a bit nervous to compete, but parents are also feeling the pressure.
"Actually I was nervous when I first got in there I was nervous, but once I see he's calm and he's got it under control I kind of calm down", said Fred Thomas, father of participant.
Austin Brinkley of Grady County won the title. Grady will now compete in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee held in Washington D.C. at the end of May.
