Accidental Shooting

A hunting trip in Wakulla County ends in tragedy.

Thirty-five-year-old Ronald Stacey Shiver was shot and killed while hunting in the Apalachicola National Forest. His cousin, Coy Shiver, told investigators he accidentally shot Ronald while hunting for wild hogs Friday afternoon.

He says the area was thick with brush and his cousin wasn't wearing orange.

“He was shooting in the direction where he saw movement, one relative shot the other,” says CPT Bill Poole.

Wakulla County sheriff's officials say it appears to be an accidental shooting, but the case remains open.
