The Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross sent it's Emergency Response Vehicle to Americus, Georgia.
Volunteers spent the day handing out hot meals, snacks, bottled water and other supplies to victims of the twisters.
Nancy Schildt is a volunteer with the Red Cross and says, "Somewhat prepare you of the fact you are going into an area where folks are probably still in shock from what's happened, and in need and that's what we are there to serve, their needs, initially in the first part of the this".
Before returning to Tallahassee, the Red Cross Volunteers will also assist other communities hard hit by Thursday's storms.
About thirty other volunteers remain on standby in Tallahassee to help out if needed.
