A family of eight is homeless Wednesday after an early morning fire roared through their house in northern Leon County.
Around 12:50 a.m. firefighters began tackling a blaze that engulfed a home at 5060 Bradfordville Road.
Firefighters say emotions were running high as they arrived on scene. They say a father was pulling his four children from the flames.
“The father carried out the kids and burned his eyebrows and suffered from chest pain. The house was totaled,” said LT Wendi Wilson of the Tallahassee Fire Department.
The father, his wife and their daughter were taken to the hospital. All are reportedly in good condition.
Firefighters say the family has no homeowners insurance and people have been driving by and dropping off donations all day.
