A 21-year-old is now facing dui manslaughter charges in the wake of a horrific wreck near the FSU campus last year.
Keith Schmalz turned himself in at the Leon County jail Wednesday. He is accused of being drunk behind the wheel the night of August 23 when his Mercedes SUV came around a curve on Jefferson Street and plowed into seven parked cars.
One of Schmalz's friends in the vehicle with him was killed. Another was seriously hurt.
Schmalz faces charges of dui manslaughter, DUI with great bodily harm and eight counts of DUI.
