One more note from the Leon County Commission, Tuesday night they considered the EMS transportation billing rates.

Sometimes the EMS crews will transport patients to non-profit entities, such as the Big Bend Hospice.

The board voted to give patients who are traveling to places like hospices or other non-profit locations, a discounted rate.

"We try to alleviate as much of the pain and suffering as we can and try to ease the financial burden. We're all for that,” says Chief Dan Moynihan, Leon County EMS.

Chief Moynihan says organizations like the Big Bend Hospice acquire the expense of their patients and often lose money.

This discount will financially help non-profit organizations.
