Death Probe

A Tallahassee man is now accused of manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend Tuesday. Police say it appears rough sex gone wrong may have led to the young woman's death and we warn you the details of this story are graphic.

Thirty-three-year-old Allan Rush of Tallahassee has been arrested on a charge of manslaughter. His testimony to police has connected several dots in this story, but there are still many more unanswered questions.

Wednesday morning he stood before a judge while the charge of manslaughter against him was read.

"It was a horrible accident. I just want to get bond posted. I'm bi-polar, I've been without my medication for three days," says Allan.

If convicted, Rush faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years because of what happened at 200 Arden Road, where the body of 22-year-old Sarah Fields was found Tuesday morning.

"Police officials say Rush and Fields were an item, and that the two lived together for about three months, and nearby residents say the two pretty much kept to themselves.

Police found Fields' body in the bedroom. In his statement to police, Rush says early Tuesday morning he was involved in a sexual act with his girlfriend, an act that involved a little more than intercourse.

Stewart Clendinen of the Tallahassee Police Department, says, "The suspect, Mr. Rush, stated that he and Ms. Fields engaged in intercourse that included penetration using his hand and also a cucumber."

When Rush was originally questioned by authorities, he stated Fields' death was caused by previous drinking and the consumption of pills, but after further questioning, and after the autopsy results came back, it was concluded her death was due to extensive internal bleeding from her vaginal and rectal areas.

"At this point, all we have is forensic evidence, a couple of witnesses and Mr. Rush's story that it was not a rape, that originally this was an agreed upon sex act," says Stewart.

Rush maintains the rough sex was agreed to in advance by Fields, and since Fields is now deceased and cannot speak on her behalf, authorities say they did not have enough evidence to include a rape charge.
