Doing work for free.

It may not be ideal, but lawyers all across the state are pledging to do just that.

Monday, members of the Florida Bar and Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp celebrated National Pro Bono Week, recognizing those who provide free legal services to those in need and to encourage more attorneys to join the effort.

"And by volunteering your time to help these children, that has nobody else to help them, it gives you the opportunity to be the world to that child," says Executive Director of Florida Guardian ad Litem, Theresa Flury.

A campaign called "One Promise Florida" is asking every attorney to take just one pro bono case per year, helping to reduce the backlog of cases and improve access to justice for all Floridians.

Considering as many lawyers as there are in the phone book....you all will need longer than a week to find the cases to work for free...woohooo! good for us! Stick to that promise now....
