Officials say a small military plane crashed Saturday morning killing both airmen on board. Military officials say the two airmen on board were instructor pilots from Moody Air Force case.
The T-6 Texan Two was taking off from Savannah Hilton Head International Airport Saturday morning for a return flight to the base in Valdosta when it crashed.
MAJ David Simons of the Georgia Air National Guard says the pilots were assigned to the 39th flying training squadron out of Moody and were on a routine training mission.
The families have been notified, but Air Force policy is to not release their names until 24 hours after that.
The crash is still under investigation.
