Citizen Leads To Arrest Of Burglary Suspect
A 20-year old man was arrested for burglary.

Tallahassee Police Department Press Release:

Tuesday morning, at approximately 2:00AM, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a reported auto burglary at 2305 Killearn Center Boulevard (Plantations at Killearn).

A resident of the apartment complex observed a person, later identified as 20-year-old Dontae Smith, attempting to open several vehicle doors.

Officer Richard Pulido arrived on scene and observed Smith attempt to enter 5 additional vehicles. Officer Pulido attempted to arrest Smith, but Smith fled on foot in an effort to avoid apprehension.

Officer Sean Wyman and his canine partner Baron responded to the scene in an attempt to locate Smith. A short time later, Baron located Smith and he again fled on foot.

Smith jumped into a retention pond in an attempt to elude capture, but was forced to give up as officers surrounded the area. Smith was taken into custody without further incident.

ARRESTED:

Dontae L. Smith, B/M, 20 yoa. Charges: Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance (17 counts), Resisting Arrest without Violence, and Violation of Probation (Armed Burglary).
