Tallahassee Police Search for Breaks in Murder Cases

Updated: Thu 1:19 PM, Apr 08, 2004

There are two other families who are still waiting to exhale. Police and deputies say they are still hoping to make arrests in those two "unsolved" murders.

The girlfriend of murder victim Shermayne Jones is still waiting for closure. There's been no arrest since his body was found in his Jackson Bluff Road apartment in October, but Leon County sheriff's investigators insist this is not a cold case. They're still doing interviews and waiting for the pieces to fit together.

Tallahassee Police say the same is true in the shooting death of 61-year-old Clyde Thomas. Thomas was found shot to death in his Mock Drive home in December.

"It's very difficult but all we can do is work with the information we have and the information we've developed and then try to build a case the best we can,” explains Tallahassee police spokesman Stewart Clendinen.

Neighbors who played checkers with Thomas nearly every day are optimistic that someone will eventually be held accountable.

"I feel like something's going to come through. If anybody does something like that they can't live with it no how. They can't live with nothing like that,” comments neighbor Jessie Lindsay.

If you have information on either of these murders, call Tallahassee Police or the Leon County Sheriff's Office. They could both use a break in the cases.
