The deal is officially sealed for the City of Tallahassee and Leon County. The downtown Community Redevelopment Area is going to happen and both sides say they can't wait to get started.
The attorney's for the City of Tallahassee and Leon County are getting together to hammer out the final plans and wording of the downtown Community Redevelopment Area.
The people of Tallahassee couldn't be more pleased.
"We're excited to have the two of them working on the same page for the first time in a long time. This is a huge deal and the CRA in general is going to be pivotal for Tallahassee," says Brian Desloge, a Tallahassee business owner.
The city and county voted yes to the plan at the commission meetings this week after months of fighting over the issue. Both sides say this new deal is the best for the whole community, inside and outside of downtown.
"Downtown means shopping, living and moving about and having something to do besides going to offices, or the Capitol. It's just everyday living," says Katie Addington.
The commissioners say they couldn't agree more. The commissions hope to have the plan properly worded and signed before June. Commissioners say that more public parking is a large part of future plans for downtown.
