Last-Minute Income Tax Filers Keep Post Office Busy

Since about 2 p.m. in the afternoon the lines did not stop at the drop off box at Tallahassee's main Post Office branch and Post Office workers say the traffic did not let up until midnight.

It's no secret that every year many Americans wait until the last day to file those income tax returns, and with the mad rush come the excuses.

Postal officials at the Centerville branch say a power outage Thursday morning caused a few minor problems. Officials with the main branch at Orange and Adams say the most problems come when trying to balance a huge volume of customers with a strict deadline.

"We've done this enough that we kind of anticipate what's going to happen, says Cynthia Lee-King, a U.S. Postal Service worker."
