The search for a fire chief and emergency management director has ended with one man. That man is Daniel Spillman.
He is named the new Taylor County director of public safety. The fire chief and emergency management director positions were vacant for a while now.
Spillman's new created position will oversee Taylor County Fire-Rescue, Emergency Management, and Animal Control.
Daniel Spillman shared, "My head is still spinning with all the different responsibilities, so I'm just making some notes and going to observe for a little while. Then I'll start formulating some plans to get more efficient and do some exciting things."
Spillman is currently a major with Leon County EMS, previously working with the Tallahassee Fire Department.
He begins his new role in Taylor County on April 16.
