Voters were up bright and early in Thomas County for a chance to cast their ballots on Tuesday. (11/03)
Election officials say every year turnout is typically low with about a 20 percent voter turnout, and this year was no different. They say more folks should get involved with elections because that means getting involved with their community.
"Voting is a privilege and a responsibility of every citizen and we should exercise that responsibility. The candidates that run make major decisions concerning our children for the school board in our community. If people do not vote they have no right to complain," Election Superintendent Vicki Burnette said.
Polls opened up at 7 a.m. and will remain open until seven in the evening.
