The planning department says it has a number of initiatives for the southside, including the South Monroe Sector Plan.
The plan has approval and the county says improvements will soon begin. The City of Tallahassee says it's allocated about $10 million for infrastructure improvements for the southside.
"To hear from the community, to get their input, and engage them. We want them to know we've heard them and there will be a transformation in the southside,” says Leon County Commissioner Bill Procter.
Other improvements include more sidewalks, bicycle lanes and landscaping.
