Rides at North Florida Fair Inspected Before Fun Begins
The North Florida Fair is back in Tallahassee. This year there are 15 to 20 new rides that will get you screaming at the top of your lungs. But before the fun began, inspectors made their rounds.

It's go time for the North Florida Fair. But before riders can enjoy an exhilarating experience on rides like the fireball, inspectors have to make sure they're safe.
For the past three days, inspectors have been making their rounds as each ride is assembled and the nuts and bolts are put in place.
"We find deficiencies on rides, that's normal. They're being assembled and disassembled every week. They're being transported up and down the roads so things are lost, cracks appear. The manufacturers aware of this and they inform us and we look at those certain areas," said Allan Harrison, an inspection specialist.
Once a ride is checked and approved, it gets slapped with a lime green sticker from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. That's an easy way for patrons to make sure their ride has been inspected.
"If we find a problem that can't be repaired prior to opening, we issue an immediate final order. The ride has to be repaired, they ask for re-inspection and we reappear to re-certify the ride," explained Harrison.
Once the inspectors leave, operators are responsible for checking out the rides on a daily basis, while riders are expected to follow the safety rules.
"I couldn't tell you the last time there's been any form of an accident caused by a ride malfunction. Usually it is patron error," said Mark Harvey, the fair manager.

I went to the fair Friday night, there are NOT 15-20 new rides, there are 15-20 of the same rides they have every year, I agreee with the fact that it still seems dangerous that they are put up & taken down every other week in different cities. Not to mention all the accidents that you can read about online. The fair has become a joke. NOTHING like it was when I was a teenager & all I go for now is the food & I hear thats not to safe either, but im not dead yet!
YOU SHOULD BE MORE CONCERNED WITH AMUSEMENT PARK RIDES,THERE INSPECTED ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR,CARNIVAL RIDES ARE INSPECTED WEEKLY
You told us about the fair, but for those of us not from here, you failed to mentioned how long the fair would be in Tallahassee or the hours of operation. This would be helpful. Thank you!
