On Saturday, November 7, at around 12:30 a.m. Tallahassee Police Department says 18-year-old Christopher Byrd was traveling at a high rate of speed on West Georgia Street near Pope Street.

Byrd lost control of his 2008 Infiniti vehicle and crashed into a utility pole,breaking the pole in half. The vehicle also overturned before coming to a final stop.

The police investigation revealed that Byrd was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.

TPD says Byrd died at the scene.

it still doesnt feel real. everyday i wake up i think about you chris. i still think that when i go back home im going to be able to see you or that i can just pick up the phone and call you. you didnt deserve to leave us all so fast and so suddenly. you were so happy and loving and for that you will always be in our hearts. until we meet again.

FredHunters.com has posted: Visitation will be Friday, November 13, 3:00-4:00pm at Christ The Rock Church 11000 Stirling Road Cooper City, FL, followed by a funeral service at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family request donations made to the Chris Byrd Scholarship fund.
