T.K Wetherell To Deliver State Of The University,Faculty To Present Torch Awards At Annual Meeting
The Florida State University President T.K. Wetherell will deliver annual “State of the University” remarks at the Fall Meeting of the General Faculty on Thursday, Nov. 12.

The Florida State University President T.K. Wetherell will deliver annual “State of the University” remarks at the Fall Meeting of the General Faculty on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Also at the meeting, Faculty Senate President Eric Walker will present Torch Awards to Dr. Joseph L. Camps, Florence H. Ashby and James C. Smith. The Torch Awards were established in 1996 as a way for faculty to honor friends of FSU who have contributed significantly to FSU’s ability to fulfill its academic mission.

Camps, an FSU alumnus and physician and lab director at Southeastern Urological Center in Tallahassee, will receive the Vires Award, symbolizing moral, physical and intellectual strength. Ashby, an FSU alumna and professor emeritus at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md., will receive the Artes Award, symbolizing appreciation of aesthetics and the beauty of intellectual pursuits. Smith, emeritus Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor of Psychology, will receive the Mores Award, symbolizing respect for customs, character and tradition.

The Fall Meeting of the General Faculty will be held:

THURSDAY, NOV. 12
3- 5 P.M.
FSU ALUMNI CENTER
1030 W. TENNESSEE ST.
TALLAHASSEE

The event will be followed by a reception at the President’s House.
