Rain and Wind Gives Alligator Point a Beating

The remnants of Tropical Storm Ida pounded the forgotten coast. Alligator point turned into a ghost town as the rain and wind put a beating on homes and roads.
"We've had a bit of storm surge. This house that we're at right now lost the front porch," said Steve Fling, the Alligator Point Fire Chief. Fire officials evacuated the lone resident but are worried the rest of the house could crumble in high tide.
Another concern is Alligator Drive. The Franklin county road department shut down part of the road as they made repairs but the waves continue to strike.
Folks who live and frequent the coast say this isn't anything new but Tuesday morning did give them a scare. "We're locals we've dealt with many storms before. And tropical storms are normally not that bad. But with the incoming tides we were worried about that," said Vince Drawdy, who visits the coast often.
