The Broward County emergency responders say people can fry a turkey without getting burned if they just follow a few instructions.
Firefighters say getting the turkey from freezer to serving plate can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.
Turkey fryers are blamed for causing structure fires, injuries, and even deaths every year.
Firefighters strongly recommend that turkey fryers be placed on a cement base rather than on a wood deck or grass. They also say it should be placed away from the house. Pets and children need to be kept away from turkey fryers and even the kitchen when holiday cooking is underway.
Firefighters also say make sure the oil level isn't too high and that the bird is completely thawed out.
