Attorney General's Communications Office Press Release:

TALLAHASSEE, FL –

Attorney General Bill McCollum’s Sunshine Technology
Team continued gathering information about new technology and its
applicability to state agencies today with a briefing from Microsoft’s
National Technology Officer. Attending the meeting were open government advocates and state agency chief information officers.

Stuart McKee of Microsoft spoke to the participants about Microsoft-based technologies, including Voice over Internet Protocol and instant
messaging, and whether those forms of communication could be captured for the purposes of maintaining public records.

The Sunshine Tech Team, announced in September and led by McCollum’s Chief of Staff, will explore the open government requirements as related to electronic communications and emerging technology.

The team’s next briefing will focus on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter and how public records and open government may affect those forms of communications.
