A trial date is now set for accused killer Gary Michael Hilton for the murder of Cheryl Dunlap back in 2007.
Hilton remained calm and collected and was seen here casually chatting with his attorney Ines Suber before the hearing began.
Hilton appeared before a judge Friday afternoon, as state prosecutors asked for a July 2010 trial date and Judge Terry Lewis granted it.
Hilton's attorney argued July 12th is too soon, but Judge Lewis says finalizing a date was a priority.
"I still think that the date is too early to take this case to trial, but like I indicated in court, we will try," says Ines Suber.
Hilton faces the death penalty for allegedly kidnapping and murdering Crawfordville sunday school teacher Cheryl Dunlap back in December of 2007.
He already admitted to killing Georgia hiker Meredith Emerson about a month after Dunlap went missing.
The state prosecutors have requested a trial date for Gary Michael Hilton for July 12, 2010 and the judge has granted the request.
Hilton's attorney says they were not ready to set a specific date today because they are waiting on evidence to begin their case, but the judge says July is a good month to work toward.
