During the 2001 Winter Festival Sheryl Allen was in town as a chaperone for one of the bands.

While attending the parade, Allen was hit by a float. Allen's settlement will be paid from the city's risk management fund.

"It caused some permanent injury. She's doing well, but unfortunately it's a permanent situation. It's a much larger settlement of about $1 million," explains City of Tallahassee attorney Jim English.

Another settlement deals with a passenger getting hurt when the doors of a TalTran bus were shut on her, causing a herniated disk.

Her settlement is for $75,000.
