Seasonal Depression
Walking in a winter wonderland is not everyones idea of a good time.

Between 4 and 6 percent of the U.S. population suffers from Seasonal Depression, while 10 to 20 percent may suffer from a more mild form of winter blues.
SAD is a depression that occurs each year at the same time,starting in fall or winter and ending in spring or early summer.
People who suffer from SAD have many of the common signs of depression.
While some agree with cold weather and the blues tooting the same horn others are able to find the silver lining in the season change.
Mark Harris, a native from Florida says, "I love when the weather changes because when it changes to the cooler we're so used to the the hot weather. So, it's invigorating, we want to go out and do stuff and throw the football around. It's fantastic"
Adam Ware, a student from up north says, "Like when it gets cold outside, I don't want to go to class. I don't want to walk in the cold. I just want to stay in and sleep."
The cause of SAD is not known, but one theory suggest the decrease in the amount of sunlight available during the two seasons has a big influence on peoples mood change.

Depression comes in many forms and ways. i have been under treatment for several years now. it started after a 22 year marriage fell apart. then i got even worse as the holidays started coming around. i got custody of my 2 children in the divorce. shortly afterwards i became disabled. have you ever tried to raise 2 children, pay the bills and generally survive on SSI ? $674 do not go far. you end up selling that has value trying to give your kids something. then when holidays come around and you know there is no way to give your children christmas depression becomes more evident. through the worry, stress, financial, heartbreak a person starts thing of ways to end it all. it easies up somewhat after the holidays, but your never really out of the rut. but every year it returns even stronger than before. depression is something not to be taken lightly. it also causes a lot of other physical and mental problems. it affects some so bad, they take their own lives.
