A man accused of a shocking restroom murder could now face the death penalty. State attorney Willie Meggs just announced that he will seek the death penalty against David Meyer.
Meyer is accused of stabbing attorney Fred Parker in an apparent robbery attempt at Market Square a few months ago.
Parker managed to stumble to a nearby restaurant before collapsing and dying. The state attorney says the seemingly random attack factored in to his decision.
"Obviously, it's a very serious case, as all murders are, but this one has some of the markings of a potentially, enough aggravating factors to outweigh the mitigating factors," says Meggs.
Right now, Meyers' murder trial is slated for September, but delays are not unusual in death penalty cases. Meyers is also wanted in connection with a murder in West Palm Beach just days before the Tallahassee killing.
