Will You Stick it to Them?

You may have received an e-mail the past couple of days that asks you to "stick it to them", "them" being the oil companies. This 21st century style protest asks that Americans not fill up on petrol Wednesday to send a message to politicians and oil companies.

Will people do it?

The e-mail claims that this protest could cost oil companies over $4 billion. Many people have received the message and it's getting different reviews.

Lynn Keller is filling up, but she's not topping off the tank, she can't afford to. She's just putting enough gas in her car to get by for a couple more days.

"They're pretty bad. I just got 12 bucks and it used to get me three quarters of a tank and now it barely gets me half a tank, it's just awful. I've got a little car and it doesn't take much to fill up, but now a days it does," says Lynn.

U.S. gas prices has topped $2.00 a gallon for the first time and it's this surge at the pump that has led to an information age protest, a protest prompted by an e-mail that is urging Americans not to fill up on Wednesday.

"I think that people will follow through with it because everybody's going to put it in today, so it may not affect it. I think it's going to be almost the same," Carla Garcia says.

"I'm not so sure I agree with that. I don't think that's the best way this whole situation could be handled," adds Lauren Caudle.

The protest is being called "stick it to them Wednesday" and there's no definitive answer on how many will participate.

"Sure if it will work, I'll do anything. I don't know if it will work or not, but it's worth a try," adds Lynn Keller.

The e-mailer promises this will be done again and again until the powers that be listen.
