GOVERNOR’S PRESS OFFICE PRESS RELEASE:
Statement by Governor Charlie Crist Regarding the Passing of Mary Call Darby Collins:
“Mary Call Darby Collins was a beloved leader in Florida’s capital city of Tallahassee. As wife of one of Florida’s great statesmen, she stood by the side of principled leader LeRoy Collins as he served the people of Florida as state representative, senator and our 33rd Governor. She offered both support and advice during some of the most turbulent times in our state’s history. Not only was she the descendant of prominent Floridians, she became a community leader herself, both before and after she became so well known as Florida’s First Lady. Her surviving family members have the deepest sympathies of Floridians.”
