State Employee Charged with Sexual Battery

He's accused of exposing himself to a 16-year-old girl at his church.

Tallahassee police say 46-year-old Wayne Maxwell exposed himself to the girl in a classroom at this church and then asked her to perform oral sex on him in a church bathroom.

He's been charged with battery, attempted sexual battery and false imprisonment. Police say they have no indication that any other children were approached by him.

LT Mark Wheeler with TPD says, "There doesn't seem to be any other. At this point, there's no one else from the church or anywhere else. He has no previous allegations of this with anybody else."

The incident happened in October, but arrest papers say the girl's family reported it to the pastor then, not police, and Maxwell agreed to get counseling.

The girl's mother told investigators she decided to report the crime when Maxwell approached her daughter again and invited her into a church office.

The church pastor would not comment on Maxwell's arrest. The executive director of the Ethics Commission, where Maxwell works, says she is monitoring the situation, but right now Maxwell will continue to work as an investigator.
