In the next few months, one area community will see a lot of big changes.
Thursday night, residents of Miccosukee attended a Town Hall meeting with Leon County Commissioner Tony Grippa. Two big items up for discussion were a new historic marker to be placed in the town, along with renovations to the town’s community center and park.
Daisy Bruton, a Miccosukee resident, says, "I feel great about it because we needed some up grades. We're way past due, I'm really excited."
Commissioner Grippa says renovations to the Community Center should begin in September. In addition to a nature trail being added to the existing park, the historic marker will be placed later this year where Highway 59 meets Moccasin Gap Road.
