South Georgia officials want to remind people it is illegal to be drunk in public places.
Thomasville Police investigators say during New Year's Eve celebrations they typically have more arrests for public drunkenness than other times of the year.
They say intoxicated people can be a danger to themselves and others especially if they are near traffic.
In Thomasville, there is a fine of $52 if you are caught being drunk in public, but officers say most of the time they just drive people home.
