Local residents are finding ways to ring in the new year.

The Capital City Countdown is back this year for the third annual New Year's Celebration at Klemen Plaza in downtown Tallahassee.

Some residents are hitting the road for the Gator Bowl; some partying; and others will be stuck at work.

Tallahassee resident Tricia Thomas is working on New Year's Eve. She said, "I'll be here all day. Then afterwards, I may go out for a drink. If not, I might just stay in and save money. That's the way things are right now."

Tallahassee resident Dusty Bennett is spending New Year's going to the Gator Bowl. She said, "We're leaving in to go over to Jacksonville where our daughter lives. She and her busband and my husband and I are going to go to the game. We're looking forward to giving tribute to Bobby Bowden and just being there for the team."

Many residents will be ringing in the new year at church, or simply at home spending time with loved ones.
