For some, finding a warm place to go in this freezing weather isn't as simple as turning the key to a house or an apartment. Some people have to rely on the generosity of others.

With temperatures dropping people walk briskly to get to where they're going. But for some the walking never stops. There is no permanent resting place. And instead of a bed, there's just cold concrete.

The Annual Homeless Assessment Report released by HUD says on any give night more than 600 thousand people are homeless.

And on nights when the temperatures plummet, the homeless are left with very few options.

Places like The Shelter in Tallahassee welcome hundreds of people in from the cold daily and provide meals and a place to sleep. But they say there's only so much they can do.

And if the homeless don't find a place at the shelter, they're left to endure the elements the best way they know how. And the only thing between them and the cold isn't four walls and a roof, it's just the clothes on their backs.

The government is too busy helping other people who don't need it.

Sarah, if you were an elected official, what, exactly would you propose to help these people? I see so many people wanting "the government" to do something. The government can't take care of everyone.
