On Thursday in Valdosta there was a change in command at Moody Air force base as civilians got to take the reigns.
29 community leaders were given control of their honorary squadrons, wings and groups.
The outgoing top dogs handed off the position to the newcomers.
The Honorary Commander program gives local leaders a chance to take part in special events with their groups for a year.
City councilmen, superintendents and business owners will have an exclusive look into military life.
