Monday's Blueprint 2000 meeting lasted only 30 minutes, but it was long enough for the committee to approve a proposed operation budget of close to $7 million.
Jane Sauls, chair, Leon County Board of Commissioners, said, "A lot had been worked a head of time, our staff has worked very hard on this budget it was well presented very prudent budget."
Andrew Gillum, Tallahassee City Commission, said, "Our staff with blueprint has done a pretty good job of putting together a budget, that keeps us within our restrictions...not spending too much time on staffing, but meeting the needs to make sure we get the projects underway."
Blueprint 2000 is a program where funds generated from the sales tax are used to make various improvements around Leon County.
And Leon County Commissioner Cliff Thaell, who was appointed Monday as vice chairman of the blueprint committee said he wants the see those improvements carried out.
Cliff Thaell said, "My colleagues felt confident in my leadership to offer me that role, looking forward to supporting or chairman during this year and looking forward to take the reigns of blueprint next year."
The proposed budget will go out to the public and will come back to the blueprint committee for final approval in September.
