Finding a job might be easier than you think, if you're willing to take temporary work.

The U.S. department of labor reports that for the fifth month in a row, payrolls for temporary help-services have increased.

Folks at Kelly services in Tallahassee say they have seen a significant increase in companies looking for temporary workers.

While unemployment numbers are still up, this jump in temporary employment is an encouraging sign.

Other reports suggest companies are in need of workers but are wary of hiring on permanent staff.

Additionally, becoming a "free agent" has become a popular career trend. We have over 40 extremely committed employees who have worked in a temporary status for more than 5 years. I wouldn't for one second question their dedication. I have been immersed in the local and regional workforce in Tallahassee for more than 20 years and I have never heard of companies hiring and firing temporary workers over and over just to "fill training classes" to get bonuses. Lastly, how could you ever contend that having a job with pay almost twice the minimum wage and more than $3 higher than the average for our region "legitimate slavery"? If you are not interested in working as a temporary employer and complying with the policies, then do not sign up with them.

All comments here so far have shown a clear lack of knowledge concerning how staffing firms work. Kevin - Staffing companies dont get bonuses for placing temporary workers unless they meet the same qualifications as if they worked with any other employer, and only once they have reached a certain number of hours. Anonymous on 3/9 at 10:14pm, staffing companies offer full benefits to every employee. My particular firm offers the same benefits to temporary staff as they do to me. And to the other anonymous poster, The staffing company HAS to charge more than what you were paid. EVERY employee in the US that is hired costs their company more than just their salary. Each employer has to pay benefits, taxes, workers comp and unemployment insurances, among other costs. Your comment reveals your lack of understanding of standard and basis employment practices. The company didnt have to utilize the staffing firm if they did not want to agree with their policies.

You cannot have a Career anymore......People are doomed to float from Temp Job to Temp Job , all while Corporations get bonuses from refilling Temp slots and Training Classes. Who is best served? Again the Executives , and not the poor worker. Hes left to starve on 400 bucks a Month. Wasnt there a War against King George III for similar reasons?
