Instead of going to the beach or the mall, dozens of students invaded a south Georgia town to positively impact the community during their spring break.

78 University of Tennessee students that are part of the Cross Ministry spent their spring break doing mission work in Colquitt County. They partnered with the Heritage Church in Moultrie.

Wet weather didn't stop these Spring Breakers from picking up the brushes, packing food, or having a good time.

"All of our friends are down in Florida and every person here has chosen to be here. We all wanted to come down and help because that's what we're passionate about," spring breaker Logan Innis said.

And if their hands got dirty, it didn't matter.

"I think it branches you out and you an build better relationships and its important to do it because your giving back. Making other people feel better is always a good thing," spring breaker Andrew Polinski said.

Polinski almost missed the trip but he says he's sure glad he didn't.

"I ended up coming out at the last minute and its probably been one of the best Spring Breaks."

While it was an assembly line of packing food in one area, across town other students painted the Boys and Girls Club and down the street other students painted a Homeless Shelter.

"My favorite part. getting to know the homeowner Berta. She's just really so sweet so working with her has been a great experience," spring breaker Alli Olson said.

Some of the students also said they received a standing ovation during breakfast at the Waffle House on Wednesday. They said members of the community have started recognizing them and come up to them and thank them for all that they're doing in the area.
