A federal jury has reached a verdict in a Tallahassee wrongful death suit.
The family of Kristina Flatt sued Barr Laboratories, claiming it did not adequately warn patients taking the generic form of Adderall of the danger of sudden cardiac arrest, and they say the drug company did not have adequate warnings about drug interactions of over-the-counter decongestants.
Flatt died suddenly of cardiac dysrhythmia in 2005 at the age of 21.
A jury deliberated for two and a half hours today before siding with Barr Laboratories.

A Tallahassee woman is suing a big pharmaceutical company, claiming it failed to warn patients of dangerous drug interactions.
She claims a deadly combination of Adderall and an over the counter decongestant killed her daughter. It's a claim Barr Laboratories is fighting in Tallahassee's federal court this week.
Jane Munroe walked into Tallahassee's federal courthouse Thursday, nearly five years after her daughter died suddenly at the age of 21.
Krissi Flatt sat down, said she wasn't feeling well, and was dead within an hour. An autopsy found she died of cardiac disrhythmia due to the "toxic" effects of amphetamine and two other drugs.
Flatt was taking a generic form of the ADHD drug Adderall at the time. Her mother contends the drug maker, Barr Laboratories, didn't warn doctors or patients about the danger of sudden cardiac death when taking Adderol nor did it warn them of the danger of mixing Adderol with drugs like Sudafed.
In court documents, Barr Laboratories contends Flatt may have been taking more than the prsecribed dose of Adderall as "speed for fast weight loss."
Barr Laboritories further contends in its court filings that its warning label at the time did warn about the possibility of arrythmias and sudden death in the event of an overdose.
Flatt's family denies that Krissi took excessive amounts of the drug and says the label should have warned about cardiac complications while taking a "regular dose" of the drug too.
Testimony in the case began Monday.
Closing arguments are slated for 8:30 Friday morning, meaning the jury could begin deliberating by lunchtime.

Bob, it's not the parents that are drugging our children, it's the doctors telling parents that the best outcome will be reached only by putting your child on medications. So you are saying not to trust the advice of our doctors? I agree that we should not be using this medication with children, but I don't agree with you blaming parents who did not go to school and get a degree in Behavioral Therapy to treat kids with ADHD. Parents just want to help their children any way they can. Don't lose sight of what's really happening.
Maybe all the parents who think ADHD is really worth drugging your kid for instead of working through the problems by learning other coping skills etc., should take note.
I am a college student who has been on Adderall for the past two years. I have felt funny different times, my heart raising, etc. I talked to my doctor and he said it was normal no worries. Now that I look back my heart was raising at the times I was taking other drugs like Advil Cold and Sinus. I am going to be extra careful and I am so sorry this family had to experience such a great loss to get this information. Is this case about time released Adderall because I am not seeing the warning on my prescription label for regular Adderall.
