Waterspout Briefly Hit Land Thursday Morning
A waterspout was reported to have briefly come ashore in Franklin County Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service says the waterspout could be considered a tornado. Officials say a waterspout is the same system as a tornado, it just develops over water and is normally weaker.

To all: I am the wife of the officer who was actually involved in this story. He is indeed a Carrabelle Police Officer and yes the vehicle was "picked up" and put back down facing the opposite direction. The important thing here is that the officer is ok....
