AirTran Pulling Out of Tallahassee

AirTran Airways says it's going to stop its service in the capital city, sighting a loss in profits as the reason.

Currently, AirTran offers non-stop flights to Atlanta, and Tampa. All Tampa flights will end this Friday. City officials say while they're disappointed, they understand the airlines’ decision
Ken Austin, director of aviation, says, "I think with the recent introduction of Delta into the Tampa market that helped contribute to the loss of profits for AirTran in this market."

Mayor John Marks for the City of Tallahassee adds, "We will continue to make sure that people here keep low costs for air fares, either with the incumbents or other new carriers."

If you have a flight scheduled with AirTran to Tampa after this Friday, the number to call is 1-800-247-8726.
