KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -- Osceola County corrections officials have placed 17 officers on leave following two escapes in less than a month and other security lapses at the jail.

The sheriff's office reported Friday that the paid leave will last until an investigation is completed.

The sheriff's office reported Thursday that 28-year-old guard Milton Caraballo Jr. was charged with helping 21-year-old Michael Rigby escape on Feb. 19.

Authorities say Caraballo gave Rigby a metal clip and helped him with a cell phone Rigby used after his escape. They say the metal binder clip was used by Rigby to remove a toilet-sink combination from his cell wall.

Rigby is still at large, and investigators think he is out of state.

On Tuesday, burglary suspect 39-year-old Carlos Rosa escaped and
was arrested hours later.

Maybe they could do as they do in football games: have the prisoners and the guards change sides at halftime!
