You're looking at a remote control car, but through the eyes of someone visually impaired.
FSU police LT James Russell is trying to steer the car while wearing fatal vision goggles.
LT Russell hopes this will prevent students from drinking and driving. He says other agencies have used go carts are actual vehicles to prove the same point.
LT Russell says his job is really a combination of education and enforcement. He could hold a DUI check-point like this one, but instead he chooses to bring a harsh lesson in drunk driving to students this way.
LT Russell says he and other officers will begin using the cars this fall. LT Russell says in 2002, there were 37 DUI arrests on FSU's campus and in 2003 ,there were 24 arrests.
